My Baby

I took Darcie to town today.  She wanted to get out of the house.  We went to Laurel's house for about an hour and a half and to the Gallery for an hour.  She was teary when we got home.  She immediately lay on the couch and fell asleep.  I woke her up two hours later, fed her some cereal, and put her to bed.  She wanted me to snuggle with her because she was cold.  She fell asleep again almost immediately.

I'm worried about her.  She is so skinny from the weight she lost while sick.  She takes two bites of something and says she's full.  It's been a week and a half since her surgery for a ruptured appendix.  Maybe I'm expecting her to bounce back too soon.  I was hoping to start school next week with her.  We won't be going to church tomorrow; again!  I haven't been in four Sundays.  Maybe I can go tomorrow night.

Does anyone have experience with a ruptured appendix and abdominal surgery with a five inch scar?  When can I expect for her to be "normal" again?

Poor thing. I need to stop saying it every time I see her, but I am just so surprised by how thin she is! It shocks me whenever I look at her. I am sure it will take her awhile to recover. It was a pretty big deal. Still, it will reassure us all when she goes to the dr. on Tuesday. We are all probably just a little gun shy now that this has happened to her.

While I have no insight on the appendix thing, I did have elbow surgery at 9, two ankle surgeries at 12, etc. Even as an adult having the Csections and the surgery for the staph infection... it takes awhile for everything to feel better physically, but to get an emotional grip on it as well. I can remember being quite depressed after surgeries growing up. Again, not sure if this helps... but eventually she will be "her" again. If I can do ANYTHING to help... let me know. I am doing 4th grade and can pull some activities, etc. that might be appropriate and fun for her...

Didn't realize that it would post without my name... so the above message was from me :-)

Csections took a while to get over, both physically and emotionally. That's the only surgery I've had. Will keep praying,
Sian.
