Christmas Reading

Christmas With Rosamunde PilcherI've decided to make a Christmas reading list.
Here are the books on the list:
1. Christmas with Rosamunde Pilcher
2. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever-Barbara Johnson
3. An Irish Country Christmas-Patrick Taylor
4. I Saw Three Ships-Elizabeth Goudge
5. The Christmas Mouse-Miss Read
6. The Sister of the Angels-Elizabeth Goudge

Does anyone have another good Christmas book to recommend? I'm hoping to have lots of time for reading in front of the fire!

Excellent suggestions, Debbie! I did not know about Christmas with Rosamunde Pilcher! That sounds fantastic!
EG is a keeper always!
Thank you!

"A Christmas Memory" by Truman Capote is a true gem. It's more of a short story. Also George MacDonald's stories in "The Gifts of the Child-Christ" are wonderful, and I think I recall that the first story in the book is a Christmas story. Enjoy!

I'll second "A Christmas Memory" - I just posted about it yesterday.

We're reading Christmas in Cedar Cove by Debbie Macomber for our December book discussion. It's light reading for this time of year. Fannie Flagg's Redbird Christmas.

I've read all but the Goudge books! Such nice books, each of them.

I know and love most of your selections! It is always fun to find fellow fans of favorite authors. Barbara Johnson and Patrick Taylor are the two I've not read.

I'd add Rosamunde Pilcher's Winter Solstice to the list...it is not specifically about Christmas but the holiday does feature in the story. It's a wonderful story.

Another good choice is The Christmas Collection by Susan Hill...wonderful short stories and illustrations (like woodblock prints) by John Lawrence.

I'm going to have to find a copy of the Pilcher book! by the way, thanks for stopping in and leaving a comment on 'For the Beauty of the Earth.' I'd sung that song for years, but the Rutter arrangement made me really notice the wonderful lyrics (and then look them up to find the real version - notice a couple verses omitted or changed on the video version) like I never had before. Also, the music sung by the St. Paul's Cathedral choir boys is heavenly.

Followed your link on my blog...thanks for visiting me by the way. I was hooked with your header and the lovely tea cups.

Good Christmas reads? The Christmas Box (I forget the author's name), A Chritmas Story by Jean Shepherd, The Christmas Sweater by Glenn Beck, Mrs. Miracle by Debbie Macomber, and one on my yet to read list is Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol by Tom Mula.

"The Christmas Box" (and loads of others) is by Richard Paul Evans. I love his books. I discovered him when I bought a book as a gift for my d-i-l when she and Mike adopted Noel. The book is titled "Finding Noel" and I didn't know until I read it (before I wrapped it and gave it to her) that the Noel in the book had been adopted too. That made the book an extra good find - and an extra special gift. ;-)
