A Cuppa Anytime

"There is no trouble so great or grave that cannot be much diminished by a nice cup of tea." The philosopher Heroux

He got that right! I have a cup with breakfast; usually English or Irish Breakfast or Yorkshire Gold. In the wintertime, I'll have another cup around 10:30 using the same teabag. And then at 4:00 in the afternoon, I'll have a cup of decaf Earl Grey. I always add one teaspoon of sugar and a big glug of real cream. And if I'm having trouble sleeping, I'll brew a cup of Sleepy Time or Chamomile. I don't usually have four cups a day; most likely two, and I drink more hot tea in the winter than in the summertime. When the weather's hot, I'll skip the mid-morning cup and have a glass of sweet, iced tea for lunch.

If something traumatic has happened in the English novels I read and love, tea loaded down with sugar is always given for 'restorative effect'. But if I have more than a scant teaspoon, I'll get a headache. Didn't used to be that way. Just one of the charms of growing older.

My number one, absolute favorite is Yorkshire Gold. What's your favorite tea and when do you drink it?

I'm just amazed!!! This morning, you, and PomPom and Jody (Gumbo Lily) ALL posted about the pleasures and benefits of tea! Hmm. Do I need to do a tea post?

Oh, I didn't answer your question. My favorite is chai with natural sugar and half-and-half. I also like English breakfast of Lady Grey. Earl Grey is too strong for me.

Lots of tea drinking going on! :) My favorite is Irish Breakfast. I think I want my tea to taste like coffee. :)

I would always choose coffee first, so therefore I like a good, robust black tea like Irish Breakfast. I've never had Yorkshire Gold. What brand is it?

Anything with mint and/or chamomile :)

Gumbo Lily, Yorkshire Gold is made by Taylors of Harrogate. I ordered a case of it from Amazon. It's that good!

M.K., you definitely should do a tea post and join the crowd.

I'm drinking Earl Grey as we speak, and I suspect it's my favorite, though I haven't tried a lot of different nonherbal teas; perhaps tea exploration can be my new hobby.

Thanks for the suggestion about vitamin D. I'll look into it!

We never talked about the tea yesterday! I told you that I buy it by the case from Amazon. It is St. Dalfour Organic Golden Peach Tea. I hope you liked it! I intended to send you home with a box. Here's the link, in case you're interested: http://www.amazon.com/DALFOUR-Organic-Golden-1-75-Ounce-25-Count/dp/B000LKZJUU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342274916&sr=8-1&keywords=st+dalfour+peach

Love you!

I love how you put it: a glugg of cream! I do love cream!
PG Tips is strong and tasty and even though our Australian friends scoff at Earl Grey, I like that, too!
Once I was invited to an English friend's house for tea. She served it on plain every day dishes and it didn't taste any different. I think we had some sort of crumpets but they were nothing out of the ordinary. That's what I get for living in a fairy tale most of the time, I guess!
I was just reading The Blue Bedroom by Rosamunde Pilcher and she makes tea time sound wondrous.

Deb, thank you for telling me where to find the Yorkshire Gold. I'll go look it up.

Ha! Actually, I love Yorkshire Gold, Irish Breakfast, English Breakfast, and Earl Grey. But in the morning, I'd always rather have...coffee. :-)

I didn't know anyone but me had read Susan Howatch's books. :-) And it was a long time ago. I did stop after the fourth one, I think, because they seemed to spiral downward. But the first one, especially, was a good one for me to read at the time. It reminded me that even the clergy are human and our trust should always be in God alone.
