Let Books Be Your Friends

If you cannot read all your books...fondle them---peer into them, let them fall open where they will, read from the first sentence that arrests the eye, set them back on the shelves with your own hands, arrange them on your own plan so that you at least know where they are. Let them be your friends; let them, at any rate, be your acquaintances. Winston Churchill

Wonderful quote. I love picking up a favorite book and reading the first line. Better yet, having the time to reread it!

I absolutely love that Churchill quote, too. Even though I am willing to part with certain books, there are others I want to cherish in that way.

What a really great quote. I was just fondling a few books today -- Marguerite Henry books about horses that my children once read and read again. Fond memories.

Excellent quote; reading opens up the world and universes beyond.
