Something To Think About

Do your work...and step back.
Fill your bowl to the brim
and it will spill.
Keep sharpening a knife
and it will blunt.
Chase after money and security
and your heart will never unclench.
Care about people's approval
and you will be their prisoner.
Do your work, then step back.
The only path to serenity.

I don't know where I read this, but I recognized the truth in it. How many times do we overwork something to the point of ruining it? Westerners want more, more, more instead of being satisfied with enough or even less.

And as a Christian, I don't believe that the only path to serenity is to do your work and step away from it. But the poem makes a good point, doesn't it?

Hi Debbie!
Oh, so true in so many ways and such a reminder of the ultimate call to surrender. Good words.

Hi Debbie! I almost forgot to mention Artful Aspirations in my celebration of blog stories post. I miss you? What's going on in your neck of the woods? What have you been up to?
Yes, I went back into post edit and added you in because I so love your words and pictures. love love

Thanks, Debbie! I went back in and fixed the glitch on my post. I copied and pasted Aaslag's name because I can't seem to figure out how to make the symbol in her name without doing that. It must have messed with the blogger fonts or something. I don't know. I think it's all good now. Thank you for letting me know! I am SO glad you are relaxed and happy. That's summer's sweetness!
